FRAN HAS VISITED SUDAN
Fran travelled to Africa to see the situation for himself on behalf of Band Aid. His reflections: sudan.jpg (10443 bytes)

"I'm gobsmacked at what I saw in Sudan. I was running around thinking 'what can I do?'"

"You see it so much as a flat thing on the TV, but when you see it for real it's so much more impressive,"sudan2.jpg (9790 bytes)

"I was naive before I went - thought Africans were needy and desperate. But they're the strongest people I've ever met who are surviving against all the odds - I don't know how they do it,"

"I'm going to get inolved and will go back to see more,"

"As a famous person the thing you can do is go to a place and report on it. A singer like myself is able to talk freely and express an opinion"

"There is so much more that can be done. Making a Band Aid record and going to Africa isn't enough for me - I'm going to get more involved."

CANCELLATION OF JAPAN TOUR

Fran was admitted to hospital last weekend suffering from a severe viral infection. Doctors have advised that Fran is unfit to travel to Japan and needs time to recuperate and receive treatment.

Message from Fran (19-04-04, 23:53) :

Hey all,
Feeling better. Thanks for all the "get wells". Yeah I got this virus a week an a bit ago. We just got back from filming Parky and that night I felt a bit wierd and then 2 days later I felt bloody awful and then I got this mad rash on the Saturday and the doc said I should go to the hospital, incase it was something "super baad" but thankfully it wasn't. They suspected some viral thing but wanted to keep my in for observation.
So that was me in hospital for a couple of nights while they watched me and took tons of tests and a load of blood. I went back home on Monday but on Tuesday had to go back in because an even more mental rash appeared. Then they did a whole bunch of other tests. They concluded that I had something called parvovirus, or fifth disease which is something that affects alot of kids and some adults and is quite common. They said it makes you come out in a rash, and attacks your joints but my joints were fine. Then I woke up the next day and my joints were killing me. Thankfully the achy knees only lasted a couple of days and the rash is gone too but the doc said I should rest for 2-3 weeks even if I feel like getting up. I gotta say, I'm gutted that we can't come to Japan. Sorry Japan. Really sorry.
So that's me, folks. Sitting in bed, guitar at my feet, writing, reading, typing, singing, watching the snooker. Ahhhhhh...
